The project entailed the construction of the Riverstown Relief Road from the Sommerville entrance to the Riverstown industrial estate to the eastern end of the Promenade Riverstown, Tramore. The road measured 1.2km in length and 9 meters wide. Works took place in a tidal area. The works included:
- Site clearance works, general excavation and fill.
- Removal of existing signage and reinstatement when project complete.
- Extension to existing public lighting along the road. Accommodation works for statutory bodies.
- Traffic management measures as some of the works are took place on a live road. Both pedestrians and live traffic were managed during the contract.
- Installation of new service ducts (electrical, telecoms).
- Installation of all filter drains, foul and surface water drainage.
- Construction of manholes chambers and gully’s.
- Erection of fencing and general landscaping including top soiling and grass seeding.
- Installation of new signs and road markings throughout the project.
- Renewal, raising or lowering of covers and gratings on existing chambers and gully’s.
- Cleaning of existing drainage system and removal of disused services
- The construction of gabion wall and mattresses.
- The construction of block work and stonework
- Construction of new footpaths and tie into and overlay of existing pavements.
- Construction of an access road and a car park for an adjacent cemetry.
- Construction of a mini roundabout.
